👋 Oi, mga repapips, Brian Dys here! I love music, photography, and creative stuff like UX design and art. This is a place where I collect my thoughts and works. Apart all these, I’m Jaycelle’s better half and Bryce’s dad. 🥰
I mean, there’s a strong argument we’re in a simulation right now. It also reminds you of that joke, if life was a video game, what would be the review? It’s like, well, the graphics are incredible, the plot is confusing, and the respawn takes a long time. That’s a video game. That’s life. It takes 20 years to spawn a human being and have them be fully conscious.Elon Musk
Ever since I could remember tinkering with PHP, MySQL, Apache, WordPress, FTP, and all the light technical stuff about launching personal websites, I was with GoDaddy. This was all before the hype of managed WordPress hosting.
It’s time to try out a different host for this website so I signed up for a month of shared hosting here in DreamHost while our other website, Our Family Adventures, is still at GoDaddy.
So far, here are my notes:
- GoDaddy – at least once a month, I experience a 500 Internal Server Error; also there’s an error when uploading a site icon in WordPress—it’s frustrating.
- DreamHost – shared hosting does not have WordPress Multisite—it doesn’t show the interface in Network Setup page
- DreamHost – https is free for personal websites
I’ll update this page after a month and let’s see if I will migrate all my online assets to DreamHost or continue with GoDaddy.
Ignoring or rebelling against using the intranet are learned behaviors that were reinforced by repeated poor experiences and infectious word of mouth between colleagues. (Learned helplessness is a well-documented phenomenon: once somebody has been beaten down enough times, she gives up trying. That’s partly why we recommend against launching a bad UX, even with a plan to fix it later.)Kara Pernice and Patty Caya in 4 Noteworthy Intranet Design Trends in 2019
Secondly, the person I’ve been with the longest — 50 years at this point — is my wife. We get along really fine, but we often don’t understand each other that well. We often laugh about how she tells me something and I hear and understand it, but later on, it turns out that what she meant and what I understood were completely different! And that’s very natural in people. Don Norman
Sometimes you forgo the data, and make a gut call due to the nature of the problem and the macro goal you’d like to reach. And believe me, though it sounds like a ludicrous situation, time-sensitive problems crop up all the time in product development!Chris Lee
