  • Cheescake, Beefcake, and Dear Old Clara

I caught her taking a swig out of the orange juice tetra pack. There was a steady stream about her cheek.

A clownish commotion in the living room was taking the spotlight. That was where I left Cheesecake and Beefcake. They were the cheeky aunties of dear old Clara. You noticed her when she came in just right after me, didn’t you? There were bright drip-drops on her fleece-white polo shirt.

Beefcake was foolishly attaching this He-Man arm to this He-Man body that she got from an Ovaltine pack. Cheescake was jitterbugging to Frank Sinatra’s Dancing on the Ceiling. What irony, I thought. Even this look that dear old Clara had was utter perplexity. We could not grasp what was going on in Cheescake’s click-clacking head.

Finally, we said, “That’s cheeky cheeky bonbon, Cheesecake.” Morosely.

Transitory Dialogue between Trent and Consuelo

Consuelo: I think there’s no place to hide.
Trent: There has to be… Somewhere…
    (Consuelo cuts in)
C: I think I’m part of your trouble [now that] you brought me into this.
(Trent looks Consuelo squarely in the eye)
T: You can’t be with me.
    C: But I am.
T: Consuelo, they’re not human. They’ll walkover anything to get to me. Destory anything that is close to me.
    C: Trent… (makes a Claire Forlani expression)
D: I’m going through this thing on blind luck. I know… (unintelligible)
C: Trent, oh, Trent, I think I’m falling in love with you.
T: Not me, Consuelo. I’m not in love.
C: I know. I know but I don’t care. Doesn’t matter. If one of us loves that’s enough.
T: [By] tomorrow morning very probably both of us will be dead.
C: Well, then there’s no time to wait for you to fall in love with me.

Consuelo then proceeds to kiss Trent. As their lips get to a minute gap, Trent pulls her into an action sequence.

Nifty. Props to you, ladies’ man Trent.

  • Mouse Trapped

Went home to the apartment in Cubao. Took the ferryboat ride. The wind was rather cold and gushing. People, especially the female youth were screaming frantically. Kids began crying when the ferryboat swayed to its sides.

Dropped by Handyman to buy some 3M non-abrasive cloth. Saw some mousetraps and bought one. I saw a sticky-type trap and saw a mouse inside the packaging. I thought it was a decoy, then it moved.

  • Conservatory with You and Let’s Talk About Death

I seldom dream or think of the future but you know that when I do, I see us dancing by a lullaby-like melody. We are older than we are today. It is as though we are alone in the crowd. You look into my eyes and it is the first time we fell in love with each other.

We, people living, shouldn’t be concerned about death or the afterlife.

You can not prevent death to happen. You can not expect death; it just happens.

Death, sickness, aging deal with us; not us with them. Either we face it or forget it – be involved with things or be preoccupied.

Death is now… very possible anytime. Death is not fearful – only fearful because you do not want to let go of things.

The things you fear are determinate but death is not.

Authentic existence – being is not equal to having. Expression of being – love, commitment can not be overcome by death.

Death is not the opposite of life but a compliment of it. You will value life more if you understand death.

Courage – living in spite of death.
